Vishwambar Free Homeopathic Dispensary was founded by Late Rai Bahadur Dr. Bishambar Das in 1922. The Dispensary remains open for two hours in the morning and two hours in the evening. About 500 patients attend the Dispensary everyday. The Dispensary because of its unique popularity serves hundreds of patients daily, who visit the Dispensary for treatment not only from immediate environs but also from far flung areas. Set up 80 years ago in a small Central Govt. quarter in Timarpur, this dispensary was initially a one man show. Gradually the fame of Dr. Das' healing touch spread and the number of his patients started to increase day by day. To cope with the increased work he inspired other persons to join in his humanitarian work. These selfless workers have continued to follow the healthy and noble traditions set by the founder and have been running the Dispensary with the same zeal, vigor and enthusiasm even after his death in 1965. After his demise, the New Delhi Municipal Council re-named the old Allenby Road after his name as Dr. Bishambar Das Marg to honor the social services rendered by him. Thus, the Dispensary has been rendering yeoman services to one and all irrespective of caste and creed, providing free treatment and medicines to patients. And the functioning of the Dispensary has been continued relentlessly by the Founder's admirers and other reputed Doctors who perform their duties and responsibilities regularly in order to complete and take forward the Founder's mission.
